It’s Build Season and this is the 2019 FRC Challenge - Destination: Deep Space

Meet Arp 142! Our hatch placing, hab climbing, four-wheeled mecanum-drive, carbon fiber and composite construction powerhouse!

In DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE, presented by The Boeing Company, we join two competing alliances collecting samples on planet Primus. Unpredictable terrain and weather patterns make remote robot operation essential to their mission on the planet. With only two minutes and thirty seconds until liftoff, the alliances must gather as many cargo pods as possible and prepare their spaceships before the next sandstorm arrives.

Meet the Namesake for “Arp 142,” the Galactic Penguin!

This year’s competition robot, “Arpie” for short, is named after this interaction between two galaxies, collectively named “Arp 142.”

Located about 23 million light-years away, Arp 142 is more than 10 times further away from us than the Andromeda Galaxy. The awesome “Penguin and Egg” shape is the result of the two galaxies, NGC 2936 and NGC 2937, being pulled closer together by gravity.
